Steps
| Departure: place of the village (on the quay of the Neste, facing the cliffs whose caves were fortified in the Middle Ages, a real castle adapted to a cliff, access forbidden for safety reasons), to take the bridge of the Neste, then to the right the D278, in the direction of Bazus-Neste. Passage near a cave closed by a gate (this is an old prehistoric shelter that has revealed real treasures: carved reindeer stick, harpoons...). Continue on the road to the village of Bazus-Neste (beautiful views on the bottom of the valley). Shortly before the village, pass near an old quarry of stone and then... |
| Take the street to the left. You leave the village on a path that you follow along the Mont until you reach the village of Saint-Arroman (views of the Valley of the Neste). Turn left on the D26 to leave shortly after, left at the Party Hall. |
| Take a path (passing near a water tank) and take a path to the right (close the fences) that goes up to the "Mayne" where there is an oratory dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, patron of the village (it is the old place of the fire of Saint John). Beautiful views of the Valley and the villages of Gazave, Mazouau, Saint-Arroman and the Montoussé Castle. |
| The path continues on the North East flank of the "Mont" to return to the west side of the Mont. Shortly after, turn left and walk in the undergrowth to find yourself facing the place of departure, near the Neste and at the foot of the cliffs (route "No-Kill" arranged: the fish caught with the fly is put back in the water). Go back to the bridge. |
